Thanksgiving is almost here—take a break from cooking!

Order from Brasi’s Pizzeria on Tuesday, November 18th and support the HMS PTO!

Pizza and pasta and paninis - oh my! When you carry out/order via phone or online from Brasi's, a portion of your bill goes directly to benefit our PTO. Enjoy your favorite Italian dishes while helping fund programs, activities, and resources for our students—it’s a win-win! No cooking, no cleanup, and all for a great cause! Take the night off, grab a slice, and help make a difference!

Brasi's is graciously donating 10% of the day's revenue back to the HMS PTO, so spread the word to your friends and neighbors. Please mention HMS when placing your order.

HMS Book Fair Is HERE - Volunteers Needed!

The HMS Book Fair has BEGUN! Students will have the opportunity to shop during the school day this Tuesday 11/18 - Friday 11/21. Cash, credit, and Apple Pay are accepted forms of payment. Thank you to the parents who have signed up to volunteer. We are still in need of helpers to make this event a success! Please check out shift availability HERE. We look forward to helping our students find their next great read!

The Book Fair will also be open for business during Parent Teacher Conferences next Monday 11/24 - Tuesday 11/25. Make your wish lists and drop by the MRC to shop and support HMS!

HMS is proud to partner with local bookstore, Anderson's Bookshop. Anderson's generously gives back to HMS - the more we sell, the higher the percentage of sales come back to us!

Annual Staff Potluck For Parent-Teacher Conferences

Please help us show some thanks and love to our HMS teachers and staff! We need volunteers to contribute a dish or drinks for the annual parent teacher conference potluck dinner for staff on Monday, November 24th. This PTO event is a staff favorite because they always love the amazing diversity dishes from HMS families! Food can be home cooked, store bought or catered. Please sign up HERE.

Food should be dropped off/delivered to HMS between 3:30-4:45pm (staff dinner break begins at 5:20pm).

Lastly, we welcome any help with set up if you are waiting for conferences. And if you are going to be out of town this week and would like to make a monetary donation instead, please contact the staff appreciation committee at staffapp@hmspto.org. Your family contributions and thoughtfulness will be acknowledged. Thank you in advance for making this such a wonderful event for our HMS staff!

8th Grade Parent Volunteer Needed - Fortnightly

The Annual tradition of Fortnightly is around the corner, in which the 8th graders may register for dance classes at The Community House beginning Friday, March 20th. This is the 68th year this program is being run at The Community House in Hinsdale. We are looking for a parent volunteer to help organize communication between the parents and The Community House as well as encourage parent sign ups for volunteering each Friday. This role begins around this time of year and continues through May 8, 2026. It’s a role that requires a very small time commitment and you work alone at your own pace. If you are interested, please email president@hmspto.org.

Parents, please note that if you opted out of receiving communications regarding The Community House and Fortnightly at registration, your child will not receive an invitation in the mail. Please check your communication settings at the district office if you are unsure.

Home Run Inn Pickup this Wednesday, 11/19

Thank you to everyone who purchased a Home Run Inn Take N Bake to support the Jazz Ensemble students' travels expenses to perform in New Orleans. Pick up will be outside the main entrance top parking deck this Wednesday, 11/19, between 2-4:30pm. Staff orders will be inside the vestibule. MATHCOUNTS Competition Series

MATHCOUNTS is a fun and challenging national math competition program for middle school students. A group of parents is organizing a MATHCOUNTS team for interested students, with weekly meetings starting Tuesday, November 18th, from 3:30 - 4:30 pm in HMS Room #104. Families Helping Families Donations Request

During this month of THANKSgiving, please consider making a donation to Families Helping Families (FHF). The PTO Families Helping Families Committee supports our HMS families when an immediate need arises while waiting for other resources or programs in the community to be approved. All referrals go through the social workers to ensure confidentiality and preserve students' dignity. FHF is completely self-funded and solely relies on the generosity of our HMS community. Thank you to those families who have made donations!

There are two ways to make a contribution. You can Zelle at treasurer@hmspto.org (indicate FHF in memo) or a check written to HMS PTO (memo FHF) and drop off at the office.

If you are interested in joining FHF, please email Denys Kang at fhf@hmspto.org. We may ask for item donations from committee members. We do not meet in person and all communications are done through emails. Thank you for your support!
