What does the PTO pay for?
Historically, the HMS PTO has held various fundraisers (Trivia Night, Color Run, magazine sales, etc.) throughout the year to raise money for classroom support, events, scholarships, staff appreciation, clubs and activities and the school musical. For example, last year the PTO funded $15,000 of additional technology and equipment to support enhancements made to the Encore classes.
Why is the PTO having a virtual fundraiser?
When surveyed last year, the majority of HMS parents said they would rather just write a check than have to sell magazines or attend an event. Third-party fundraisers, such as magazine sales, typically only deliver 40% of funds raised, whereas a direct fundraiser like the Wrecking Ball will delivery 100%.

What is our Fundraising Goal?
Our goal is to raise $25,000, but more importantly, it is to have participation from the full HMS community.
What is a non-event?
A non-event is exactly what it sounds like – an event that does not happen. We still have a fundraiser, but we will not incur expenses for caterers, event space rental, gratuities for wait staff, etc. HMS will keep 100% of the funds raised through this non-event. How much should I donate?
We suggest a donation based on what you would have spent had this been an actual event. Instead of spending money on tickets to an event or a new outfit or a babysitter, consider donating those funds directly to the PTO. Each and every donation is important, and our hope is to have as many families as possible join us in this campaign. The PTO, our teachers and staff, and most importantly our students are grateful for your continued support.
